'Albert' Charcoal on fine art paper

£175.00

'Albert was a Safebreaker'' is part of an ongoing series of mugshot charcoal drawings which have been inspired by vintage 1900-30s photos from around the world. Albert was indeed a safebreaker up in Newcastle, UK.  I found the old images rooting through archive royalty free images and was captivated. The idea behind the series is to allow the faces to become more abstract and disturbed depending on the severity of the crime. I already love the period, the fashion and hairstyles but found the men and women's faces to be so engaging, haunting and beautiful at the same time. .

The series of portraits also featured in the popular online magazine 'Curate'.

Artwork is 42 x 59.4 cm and shipped rolled in a sturdy tube ready for mounting and framing (Frame not included).
