The Forest Book Project

I have been lucky enough to team up with the fine folk at The Forest Book Project on many occasions now and this has led to various nature and botanical drawings being created and exhibited at the prestigious Dundee Botanical Gardens as part of the Dundee Science Festival.

The Forest Book Project have gone on to write a book about foraging and cooking the foraged food, but amazingly the actual book was made entirely from foraged materials too. From mushroom paper through to clay and plant watercolours each page was hand made, written and illustrated. It has been a great honour to be involved in the illustration of the book and to use such special and unusual materials along the way. I can't wait to see it finished and being exhibited soon.

The foraged watercolour set I was given to create the illustrations. Unbelievably vivid colours all sourced locally from nature and earth, but tough to use!
The paper was made from birch polypore mushrooms and was very delicate and unpredictable to use. One mistake and the whole page could be ruined.
